Davis Monthan Air Base 11th February 2015

Although not the best base for photography from outside the fence,  Davis Monthan in Tucson Arizona is just one of those bases that you sit and wait and just wait to see what turns up.

The 355th Wing operate from Davis Monthan with the A10. With much spotlight on this air platform being retired in the not too distant future these were high on my agenda to photograph.

More A10s were seen operating from the newly formed 944th Wing Dogpatchers SQN.

Eight A-10C Thunderbolt IIs from the 124th Fighter Wing, Idaho were also operating from Davis Monthan

under the operation Snowbird exercise.

Above is "Zapper 31" conducting circuit pattern work on runway 30  late in the Day on the 11th February.

Another wing based at Davis Monthan is the 23rd wing operating the HH60, not the missing door on the cockpit.

Aswell as all these based Wings and Sqns  Davis Monthan joins onto the Aerospace Mainenance And Regeneration Group (AMARG) . Aircraft can be often seen on there final flights into storage.

This makes Davis Monthan a very busy and interesting place to spend a Day.

On my visit  2 Sh60 helicopters and a P3 Orion flew there last ever flights into storage.

AMARG and the Pima Air Museum will be covered in a sepaerate page.
